Originating in the Mediterranean and the tropical areas, the fruit of Citrus sinensis is called
to distinguish it from bitter orange (Citrus aurantium). The cradle of this orange tree is located between the Himalayas and China of the South. They are the Portuguese who brought it back around the year 1400. Since, its culture was spread considerably in several countries. The soft orange tree, a small tree of the family of Rutacées, is an old hybrid, resulting probably from a crossing between maximum Citrus and Citrus reticulata.
